Title: Pagoda Shown In Ad
Post by: zoegrlh on January 02, 2025, 13:51:22
Was watching football (American) yesterday, New Year’s Day, on TV, ESPN, Arizona State University vs University of Texas, when a commercial came on for IHG Hotels International featuring a tan on green Pagoda.  Very unusual front grill, instead of the star and ring with bar, it had three bars. What’s with that?

If you use an image for any purpose showing the Mercedes star, you need permission from Mercedes Benz. This is obviously a way to circumnavigate that and do without their permission.

I believe Mike is correct.  My car was once used for a Casio Camera ad/video and they blanked out the front star, camouflaged the wheel covers and removed the logos on the bonnet

Even as a supplier, when we wanted to use a photo of their product in our image brochures or ads for reference, we needed their permission.

That looks like someone tried to make it look like a Tesla Logo.

If you search on Google (or other search engine), for, "Is there a IHG connection to TESLA", you will get lots of hits about their hotel chains providing EV chargers for their hotels.  Maybe they just thought cars in ads look silly without manufacturer emblems, and took the easy way out.
