Multi-day MBCA event, but in the car show MBCA will have W113 as featured show class.
-
This is an interesting post. We have a multi-day Mercedes-Benz event with a date and location already set, that is featuring Pagodas next year.
And in another post on the forum, we are discussing where to host a potential PagodaFest 2025 event. Hmmmm

Well, John, it's like this...
For a variety of reasons, many don't want anything to do with the MBCA.

What happened with MBCA and how long ago did it happen?
-
I have my opinions and feelings and would very much appreciate hearing some input.
I am a long term member, but I will say that I feel MBCA seems to have a lost membership focus

Are new owners automatically given a years membership? If so that could be the reason. They don't need to put in an effort since they'll get new members regardless, even if only for a year.

No, new MB owners don’t get automatic membership in the MBCA. Discussions of such collaboration in various forms happened over the years but rarely did anything come of it. But I’m more than four years removed from the MBCA. So I don’t exactly what they are doing now.

From what I can tell, MBCA is probably sponsoring a Mercedes section of the https://www.artomobilia.org/ show, and in that section of the show, MBCA will have the w113 as the featured model. I don't believe we would have to register for the MBCA "Mercedes Grande" event, just sign up at the website above and sit and socialize with MBCA folks. Here is MBCA's 2024 event registration page, so you can get an idea of all they are doing.

Michael,
I don't think the feelings of some should control the options available to all. Why not discuss it? If the majority would be in favor, then why not participate in a public event (Artomobilia or other) that has an MBCA tie-in?

Because this is an MBCA event, nobody here in our group has any control over any other member who may choose to discuss, attend, or investigate.
Collaboration with the MBCA is another matter. If it is to be a joint event (or even one we just consider to join so to speak) we need a champion to lead and see it through.
No shortage of great ideas in our group. Well thought out details for ideas, not so much, and then volunteers to step up and take ownership, well…
…any takers on this one?
BTW, I was not able to access the MBCA Grande website for a look-see; it came up with an error; see screen shot. The Automobilia website doesn't have any information I could find like that you'd find with an ABOUT tab. There was a new posting from 2023 about the MBCA, so that's not a source of any up to date information. With those two roadblocks, kind of tough to figure out what if anything is going on...

Michael,
My intention was not to join in on the whole MBCA multi-day event, but to suggest we participate in the ArtoMobilia public car show. Then, our Group would have to organize our own hotel, meals, side trips, etc.
Yes, the website shows nothing yet.

Googling past shows for pictures gives you an idea of the show. Actually, here's a good video (skip first 5 minutes).

But regardless, I agree that it takes local resources to organize & run and event and I don't see that happening in Indiana right now.
