Currently on an auction site, description as follows:
History and Paperwork
Registered in 1965
In current ownership for approximately 2 years
Imported from the dry state of Texas
First registered in the UK in 2023, according to the DVLA
Car has mostly been in storage with minimal mileage since recent work
Car is highly original and has no known history of restoration
The vendor is reluctantly selling due to loss of storage
Viewing/inspection in person more than welcome
Currently indicates 55,733 miles on a five-figure odometer - check the pictures
While this isn't confirmed, the car's condition does seem to support it
MOT exempt
-
That car needs a fair bit of work to finish and the price has already exceeded what I thought it would make.
Auctions are funny things. I believe colour has the most significant impact on price.
-
It was the description that made me smile
Car is highly original and has no known history of restoration
And then a picture of a full respray and list of replacement parts?
-
How interesting to see one without any of the lower side moldings. Positively ugly!
As a famous Dutch plastic surgeon once said: "The difference between a beautiful woman and a less beautiful one is question of millimeters".
-
The ashtray on the door is an interesting touch. The engine compartment looks a bit funky. A lot of work, indeed.
-
I always would be worried about buying a car that has been freshly painted before sale. Makes me worry about putting
Lipstick on a pig.
Of course the fact this paint prep used guide coat gives at least some indication of a quality job.
-
I’m amused by the comment “imported from the dry state of Texas”…
Say what? The gulf coast of the USA which includes a lot of Texas gets a lot of rain and being the gulf coast has salt air. Ask people in the Houston area if they consider themselves “dry”…
The actual condition of the car TODAY is really what matters.

Threshold panels ?
-
Can somebody else take a close look at the engine bay? I don't see a the fuel injection pump, a fuel filter, and the fuel lines on ther right side of the engine are pretty funky??
This is one scary vehicle.
-
And I don't see any throttle linkage across the top.
-
Interesting description, considering the lack of the Injection pump....
From the description on line...
Thevendor notes that the handbrake may need attention in the near future
Engine bay looks in fine order
Car has mostly been in storage with minimal mileage since recent work
As a result it may benefit from a tuneup before hitting the road
We understand the car to be in fine health
-
Looks like a franken-car
-
The lack of a fuel injection pump is very strange. There's a 107 fuel filter in the engine bay.

Mercedes 250 ce
-
There's a manual shut off valve in the heater inlet line. That's means a rebuild of the heater valve (best case scenario) or replacement of the heater core is necessary.

Thanks for clearing up this mystery Peter!
Someone ought to tell the auction house ...
-
I have visited a few UK auctions just out of curiosity, and found out that the wording in the description is the sellers words. Sometimes tweaked up by the auction house, but in the small print it says that the description is nothing to do with the auction house, and do your own checks etc cant be held responsible etc..etc. And the seller is unlikely to say its rubbish.
So usual thing of buyer beware.

Not that it's anywhere near correct, but the 250CE engine is a decent build. Every bit as strong as a 250SE unit.
-
Looks like a franken-car
Highly original, indeed! Who’s kidding who?
-
Reserve not met at £43,500

And it’s back again

Etsy supplied the soft top
And why would a Texas car have a kmh speedo?
There’s clearly a car here that will make a nice ride for someone but perhaps not at the price that was being asked.
-
think it looks a bit naff. No chrome side strips etc and boring colour.
