Dear Friends
Much have been written on the matter, but many have not realized the danger on which their loved classic Mercedes are on catching fire.
I am working in a harness for a customer with a rare W112-300SE COUPE 1964.
The harness showed normal aging signs, but once all PVC tubing was removed, the extensive damage was revealed in detail.
- T30 lines (always hot-non fused) have completely compromised and absent insulation, that happened on segments exposed to heat, and also inside the cabin
- T50 starter selenoid activation line, shows external insulation softening
So my friends, please make your harness be serviced by someone with patience and attention to details.
Those two major lines have in my opinion always problems. So replace them.

Hi Leonardo,
I am with you there.
A few months ago, I nearly lost my E Type due to old rotten wiring. Fortunately, I had a “dead cut switch” in the cabin of my E Type, which saved the day and the E Type.
The E Type has 6 separate harnesses, which makes fitting very easy. One left, one right, one instrument panel, one engine, etc.
I have subsequently fitted dead cut switched in all my classic/vintage cars.

That is an excellent preventive measure.
Of course would be much better to make someone knowledgeable refurbish the wiring harnesses so that the terrible situation you passed through, with your Jaguar E Type, never happens.
