Title: Rubber fuel hoses
Post by: Ahealey12 on June 27, 2024, 19:02:33
So getting the merc next week!

Figured out it’s a 67 and i know i am replacing the rubber fuel hoses to the tank as my grandmother let me know it was leaking, that’s easy enough, but looking at it there are a few lines to the injection pump that are rubber as well. Is it safe to assume i should replace? Or am i wasting money trying to get parts before? I’m sure the leak is probably something small but figured I’ll replace as much rubber i can. Does anyone have part numbers fit them through Mercedes? Buds has it listed as and has 3 hoses:

Injection Pump Feed hose
230SL/250SL/280SL

You can get most of those hoses from Mercedes. I’d replace them they are shot, on my 1969 they were rock hard. Also ethanol doesn’t play nice with old fuel hoses.

The Classic Center will have the OEM hoses. Expect to replace ALL hoses in short order.

It's been my experience to USE original Mercedes parts especially for hoses and rubber etc. The quality and fit are much better. The Classic Center is a good place to get your parts and as you do more work on your car you'll learn of many other suppliers and alternatives if you like.

I would wait to buy your parts once you have a chance to inspect the leaking area and the car as a whole. One fix will lead to another and another. You can save on shipping costs and returns etc.

Good luck with your car and reach out to this site. Everyone here is here to help.
