Title: Compression
Post by: miked_md on June 24, 2024, 18:23:01
I recently acquired a 67 230SL.  The seller claimed 60K original miles which I thought was suspect.  Having spent some time with the car and doing a compression check now I am not so sure.  It is the original engine which appears to have never been out of the car.  Warm compression results average 153 with a low of 149 and a high of 160.

Looking for opinions on whether those results are more likely from a 60K engine or a 160K engine?

Interesting car/story.  More to come.

Thanks!

Thanks.  Not sure if that poster's experience was typical.  His compression seems quite low for a low mileage engine.
