Title: Tree Fell on Garage-Disaster Narrowly Escaped!

Been meaning to have that tree trimmed back!  Nature did it for me this evening, as a large ash tree hanging over my garage gave way, with two large limbs piercing my garage roof.  No damage to the 280sl, but water is penetrating the garage, so I'll need to get that fixed right away.  Washington DC area had severe storms and wind, with about 150,000 homes without power.  

Good news is that this will not interfere with the big Tech Session this weekend.  Backlick or Bust!  Leaving Friday morning for the big event.

Tom,

I can only imagine what was going through your head when you looked out your window for the first time during/after the storm and saw the downed tree on your garage!  

Glad to hear your pagoda is safe.

Whoa Tom, don't say I didn't warn you of it.  But a big sigh of relief that you are okay and your goldie too.  The roof can be fixed easily with a bit of spit and gum, but not the car.
How is everything inside?  Still okay and not damaged badly.
Let us know how the Alexander event goes, sorry I couldn't go.

'HE' knows trees and roofs are more dispensible that Pagodas  8)

Tom glad to hear that you're okay!  As for Walter's idea of spit and gum you could always try duct tape. :D   There are people out there that can fix anything with a roll or two of duct tape.

Last week I had a garage disaster of my own and was not as lucky as Tom. The torsion bar that acts as a counterbalance broke loose on the right side and the door came off its track. That caused one side of the door to drop down and when it did it put a crease in the left rear fender of my 230SL. The crease extends to the tonneau cover but didn't crunch the chrome strip. (The top was down at the time)
It could have been worse! No one was hurt and the damage can be repaired by me. It looks like I will be getting out my hammers and dollies and doing bodywork once again.
The toughest part will be repairing the crease in the cover because it is made of aluminum and I can't get under the crease.
I would send a picture but I do not know how to do that.
