Title: Mechanic Reference
Post by: Camhi on June 18, 2024, 00:35:05
Hey all, located in Nassau County, Long Island. Looking for a reference(s) for a mechanic. Currently need to install new shift lever bushings, potentially a whole new shifter.

Tia, I can't help you with a mechanic but if you are even a little mechanically inclined you can probably change the bushings yourself.  It's one of the first things I did when I purchased my car 15 years ago.  It's been written up here to help you through the process.  Just do a search.  Biggest obstacle may be getting your carpet off the tunnel cover if it was glued down.  Hopefully it wasn't.

Tia
assuming the car is an automatic replacing the shift bushings is very easy.

bushings are readily available at many sources.  I usually buy extra and keep them in the trunk.

if you need instructions you can message me.

Glad to hear it worked out and you got it done.  The carpet over the tunnel does not need to be glued down so hopefully you didn't reglue it.
