Title: I found this compensator in the garage today
Post by: badali on June 08, 2024, 21:04:01
What is the value?  I'm not selling it on here since it is too heavy to ship.  The car was level but it should be rebuilt.  It was on a 1972 280SEL 4.5

You might try the Classic Center. The last time I checked they required a core to rebuild a compensator. They probably would pay something for yours. Not sure who else rebuilds these other than in Germany.

Thanks,  I really don't want to ship it.  I guess if they have a core charge that would give me a value.

There seems to be a market for these on line, particularly eBay. I see prices starting at $250. Some of the higher prices, $1500 plus, are likely rebuilt units.

Thanks Ralph, with that info I'm placing it in the local MB section newsletter for $500 OBO for local pickup only.  I've been going through the parts as I organize my new garage.  I keep finding things I'll probably never use...
