Title: 3 days to go
Post by: JamesL on July 26, 2005, 03:06:05
before the big trip...

On Friday, the wife and I head off on our holidays. For Audrey, this is no holiday

Dover, Channel Tunnel and then put the car on the French Motorail for the overnight trip to Nice

A couple of days in Provence, and I'd love to go to the Grand Canyon de Verdon. Wife wants to take the car down the Grace Kelly route into Monaco....(yikes)

A whizz round the highway into Italy and up to the alpine lakes - Lugano to be specific, for a couple of nights -  with a day trip to Bellagio.

Then a short but hard "mountain stage" to Bolzano which we will likely leave via the Brenner pass across to Austria

A night in Salzburg and then 3 nights at the German Pagode Club rally at Landshut in Bavaria

Oh, and then we have to get home (600m+)  in a day!

I will be keeping records of mileage and fuel consumption. I also plan to do a little write up for Pagoda World.

Tosh,
I was merrily driving down that "Grace Kelly" road a few years ago, sadly in a Pug 505 when I happened to mention this was the road..
She was not amused
Great road though!
Have fun

Tosh,

Let me know if you go by the MB Dealership called "NAVA" in Bergamo, Italy.  That's where my 230SL was originally sold to Carlo Riva (www.redaca.it/per/enhome.htm) in October, 1966.  Wave for me!

Hi rodd,
i am actually from bergamo! NAVA is the biggest (and oldest) MB dealer here... not very nice, lately... and not too competent on classic MB... the old man, who opened the dealership, was better...

Cheers,   e.

Ennio,

Hello.  So you know all about Carlo Riva, right?  He's a very famous man in that part of the World.  I had an Italian member try to get service/repair records for my car from previous Italian owners and MB dealerships, but had no luck.  He was able to get an owner history from the Motor Vehicle Dept., so that is how I found out about Mr. Riva.
