I have found details how to rebuild the fuel damper, but what are the engine symptoms if it fails?
Cant find the answer if someone could point me to that please?
Trying to understand the symptoms and the knock-on effects to understand if my one is failing. (1966 230)
Many thanks.

A few years ago, I worked on a 280sl with multiple problems. One was that the engine would barely run once fully warmed-up. It turned out that the diaphragm in the damper had disintegrated and blocked the fuel return, causing the fuel pump to overheat. I replaced the damper and blew out the return line and the car started running well enough to address its other issues.
Cheers,

thanks. I was wondering if this could be a cause for hot starting issues? Will get it checked.
