Title: 1971 280 SL trunk lock not working
Post by: ryanpe56 on March 08, 2024, 18:38:03
I can't open the trunk anymore. The lock works as it always has. When unlocked the button presses in and when locked it doesn't. It feels like the button is not connected to the latch as it operates very easily. I can't access the trunk from the area behind the seats as there's only two very small openings cut into the steel body that lead into the trunk. Is there any way of releasing the trunk latch without destroying anything? Thanks in advance for your help.

Dan's solution doesn't work on a 70 or later.

Shot from the hip: can you remove the register plate lights? Would it give you access to levers?

Have you tried pushing the button while pressing trunk lid down a bit?

OP doesn't state model or year of their car.

I guess when I read all the threads, I don't pay much attention to titles.
