To all of the Pagoda aficionados, who can spot the difference in these two pictures?
Other than the obvious of colour and that one has the glovebox door fitted, there is a significant difference between these two.
I will share the factory solution in a later pic, but I’d first like to see if anyone can notice anything unusual?
A big shout out to Joe “getsmart” for his help with this one.
A hint is that it truely shows our cars were hand built.

The rounded off corner of the metal work in the bottom right corner of the top photo as opposed to square cut corner in the bottom photo ?

Looks the same shape has been cut, but not the same dimensions. Oh, and a screw hole

Great detective work to you all, you are technically correct.
My car is the white one.
The cutout for my left dash vent has been cut too low, hence the factory had to come up with a solution for the tab on the bottom right corner of the dash vent to locate.
They have fitted what appears to be a modified speed nut, which I am holding in the attached pic. If this piece isn’t fitted, my dash vent does not sit correctly to line up with the glovebox.
The speed nut has been fitted with a modified pop rivet through that hole from the back that one of you has identified as a screw hole. Unfortunately the modified pop rivet they utilised has broken, so I’m trying to work out what I can use so that it sits flush against the dash for the dash vent to sit on top of. I thought a pop rivet from the front might work, but it will protrude too far out. You can see the mark in the paint from the flat piece that poked through from the back to attach it.
It really just goes to prove our cars were hand built and that sometimes ingenuity was relied upon.
You can also notice the small hole to the left that holds the chrome trim of the lower padded dash trim is a lot closer to my vent than on Joes red car.
I’ve also attached a pic of the tab on the dash vent that slips over the factories handiwork.

The larger holes uses a barrel clip, which is a spring loaded tube, in order to hold the chrome with the louvers in place.

Hi Dan,
Fully aware of the barrel clips you speak of, this hole is on the opposite side, underneath the heater air tube that has the tab clip that I showed in one of my previous pics.
I have the barrel clips for the two pins (pic attached) but they aren’t going to help on this side.

What do you call a "pop rivet" or modified "pop rivet"?

First pic are what I call pop rivets.
Second pic is what is left of what the factory used to fit the modified speednut that I’m holding in my fingers in one of the earlier pics.

I am not sure if I understand correctly: if it is about the fastener head sticking out from the dash metal sheet - you can use one of those

I have considered a rivet, although the hole is quite small.
That round piece of what’s left of the fastener that originally held it on only had a flat section poking through the hole to sit flat on the dash. Kind of like a flat tongue of sprung steel. As I said earlier the flat section of it left an imprint on the right side of the hole in the paintwork.

Oh, I get it now - not the head was sticking out to the dash, but just the holding piece. Well, then bottom part of the rivet can be used. Like lower part of this one:

where the S dimension of the bottom part is 3.3mm only.
Also: the type of rivets used for glove box door hinge are very flat.
