Title: 1971 280SL injection pump rebuild
Post by: ryanpe56 on February 19, 2024, 02:21:18
I had a non running 280sl due to the injection pump not developing a consistent output of fuel. I researched my options and decided against attempting to disassemble it myself due to the complexity and lack of experience working on a Bosch pump. I contacted Marty at H&R Fuel injection LTD in Bohemia NY and decided to pack it up and ship it off. I did get shipping insurance as the values of these pumps are many thousands of dollars. H&R did a spectacular job on the cleaning and rebuild. The pump had a worn out space cam along with several other issues. Marty also cleaned and tested all my injectors with the rebuilt pump. In just a few days he shipped me back the pump and injectors which I then reinstalled. The engine started with a turn of the key and runs like new. Highly recommend Marty and H&R.

Thanks for sharing your experience!  That's great.  It's a perfect post for the Vendor & eBay Experiences sub-forum.

I know I need to bite the bullet on this one. How long did it take and what was the cost? Thx

Nice to hear that H&R in Bohemia, New York, is back up and running. I believe that Hans passed away, or is retired or something. He was the original guy there and then I heard there was a fire there a couple of years ago.

They did mine back in 2000 or so and everything has been running. Smooth since then.

Marty rebuilt my pump 2X and screwed up the entire car.  He had the pump and car for two months and wouldnt return the car without me paying more than $5,000.   I can't recommend him.  I should have sued him.  Horrible.

Place in west coast is much better.

Sorry your first post has to be a negative one, but welcome to the Group regardless.

The "one on the west coast" is Pacific fuel injection?
