Driving home to NC from MA, bad traffic on I95 had WAZE diverting off of I95 and around the section of I95 through downtown Pawtucket and Providence yesterday morning. I was not much better off in stop and go traffic on North Main Street. Anyway, I passed this place called "German Motors" and spied a tobacco brown Pagoda in the front lot, along with a bunch of other interesting cars (old Volvos, a hot 2002, Porsches, etc.) At the time I was passing I couldn't figure out if these were in for service or for sale, but I see this one was sold:

Based on the VIN, I think they got the year wrong. Mine is -7262 and is a January 1969 build. So this car with a -407 is very early 280SL which would put it at 1968.
I was in traffic, stopped, but it wasn't easy to get any better a shot without stopping...

since I've had my 1970 (around 9 years now) I haven't seen another pagoda in my area in that time.

Thank you, but not as good as it may look. The iPhone defaults to a very wide angle shot so it makes it look like I am much further away than I really was… anyone of you stuck in traffic on this road would’ve noticed that Pagoda in a heartbeat. I was pretty proud of myself, not for noticing the car, but being able to determine that it was Tobacco Brown!

Rhode Island is a beautiful place for a Pagoda in the summertime. The winter... not so much.

AGREED! My last "Pagoda Spotting" was in Newport, RI in June! I was in RI/MA for about 10 days. No sunshine at all, a lot of rain, but no snow.
