Title: throttle body adjustment. Butterfly bind.
Post by: Paul99 on December 21, 2023, 16:41:37
Just trying to stop the hunting on my 230.  Firstly making sure the butterfly is fully closing on the throttle body as part of the linkage tour. I note that what should happen is when FULLY closed, it should bind slightly when trying to reopen the butterfly.  I have adjusted it fully closed but it doesn't "bind" at all when opening.  Should it bind?  is it just a case of worn out?  Its the original unit, 140k miles.

Something is probably holding the lever open. Disconnect the linkage rod going to the venturi. It might be holding it open. If yours is an automatic, make sure the elecrical throttle switch is not adjusted wrong and is holding it open. If you have a vacuum dashpot on the venturi, you might need to temporarily move it if it is holding the lever open.
