Has anyone had this done to an early part with the non removable lens?

The lens can be removed for rechroming the outer surround. Slow and steady is the key to success.

Depending on the cost of re-chroming you may be better off buying a new one.  I think there are vendors selling them again.

Thanks. Now, how do I remove the silvered part glued to the back of the lens? It has to come off to reach the tabs.

Hi Joe

I just had all my outer chrome rechromed and just a heads up on the rear light surround just make sure the chromers don’t put heavy chrome on the light surround after you have removed your lenses as they will not fit back in. That is the issue I am having at the moment.

From what i understand the reflector should just be clipped into the lense, not glued in?

It can be done but you'll end up with a roough edge where the chrome meets the lens.
Mercedes sells new ones but annoyingly, they are plastic repros!
