I am doing a ground up resto of my RHD 1966 230SL. I have just fitted new tie rods, steering suspension and drag link. The new steering suspension when fitted to the new drag link runs very close to the mount. I can see that the old drag link has a slight kink in it. I have fitted it and the issue goes away. Is this a RHD issue. You help would be appreciated. Pics attached, No 3 is the two drag links, the 2nd pic is the new one as fitted, the 3rd is the original drag link as fitted.

Hi Alan,
Both my old and new draglinks do not have a kink in them.
I’m a way off from driving mine, but I suspect it won’t be a problem as the swinging arc of the steering gear will take the draglink away from the crossmember brace.
Time will tell of course, but I’m not too stressed about it as yet.

Also,
Looking at the pic with your idler arm, there appears to be too big of a gap at the top.
It takes a bit of finessing with the coarse and fine threads, but you need to get the cap as far down as possible, while still allowing full movement.
Doug.
