Anyone replaced their old Halogen with LED? I'd like to update and was wondering if anyone has with something they were very happy with.

Hi, Dana,
Here is my reply to the same question from a couple of years ago:

I have these in my 1972 super beetle and like them very much.

I replaced my old Sylvania headlights last month with the Holley Retrobrights from Morimoto. They were plug and play and easily installed once the headlight doors were removed. I ordered them in classic format which produces more of a warm light as opposed to the bright white version. I like everything about them except that they made of high impact plastic rather than glass. My car is always garaged so it should be ok but I wonder how these would hold up if exposed to long periods of UV?

I guess that which of our answers is most useful depends on whether Dana has US or Euro headlights. I have Euro, Len and Will apparently have US (sealed beam).
Because Dana said halogen, I assumed Euro.

I have, bought them online, H4 bulb as I have H4 lamp insert iso the std Sealed Beam, its a improvement in light but there is some dark spots in the light picture. Saw an add from Philips that they have 18W H4 LED approved for Europe.

Thank you!
I am afraid, however, that both Pro and Standard lines are approved only if a car is registered in certain countries (Germany, Austria) and they are approved only for certain models of cars. It means if you have a car that is approved for these bulbs in Germany or Asutria - you are fine, but you are not ok if your car has plates from other EU country. There is also E11 homologation, but that is UK and does not work any more in the EU.
Here is the list of models for Standard: https://www.philips.de/c-e/au/autolampen/scheinwerfer/u60s-led-compatibility-list.html
Here is the list of models for Pro: https://www.philips.de/c-e/au/autolampen/scheinwerfer/led-compatibility-list.html
There are Mercedes models there, eg. W463 and R107.
If there is more recent update on the homologation status - please share! I would love the news that I can replace the bulbs in my W463 and Pagoda. But not for now, I am afraid...
It is a pity that the EU rule about most homologations (approved in one country makes it approved in other countries) does not work here...
