Title: Switch / Relay Testing...
Post by: acbrock on October 18, 2023, 19:02:32
So I have me whole dash apart and fixed/cleaned tested all the components and everything seems to be working great.  Now I just need to test them in the car, to make sure the switches/relays are ok and they were not the problems.

Problem is I have all the instruments out.  If I attach the battery and turn the power on won't oil pressure line shoot oil everywhere?  What fuses could I pull so I could safely get power to the car to test the Wipers/Blower/WiperPump, lights... etc?

Thanks
Aaron

Not fully clear on what you mean by "turn power on" if it is just to energize the system and NOT start the engine. There will be no oil coming out, the pressure is sensed by a small line connect directly to the engine.

Right - it is a mechanical oil pump, so nothing will be pumping to the gauge cluster.

The pump that will start working is the fuel pump. May want to make sure you have all the fuel lines connected (not related to instrument cluster), otherwise fuel will be spilled with high pressure.

Best to remove fuse responsible for fuel pump. Fuse no. 4 or 5, do not remember now exactly which one…
