I have lost the 290hz horn and still have the 345 (picture attached). In searching for a replacement i have seen different serial numbers/model numbers for other 12V 290hz horns and wonder if I could replace my missing one with one of them (say from a Porsche 911)?
One I have found is a 290 Hz – Bosch number 0 320 202 023.
Does anyone know if this will even connect, mount, and work in my '69 280SL?
I am not going for a perfect resto, just wanting to esthetically match it up to the existing 345hz and replace a missing part. many thanks!!

Hello Matt, the Porsche horn is the correct voltage and frequency, so there's no reason it won't work on your car
Have you seen a picture of the connections and bracket on the back of the horn, do they look similar to those of the original Mecedes horns? there are plenty of pictures on here, if you search "horn" or "horn bracket" using the search function above left
I think the brackets varied between the years and whether the car had AC or not, have a look at the pictures, they should help

Thanks Bob. The one I was looking at has a connector like attached photo. I need to get underneath my car to see what the 280 setup for horn mounting looks like. I really just want the car to look and sound complete so kind of figuring this out as I go haha

No reason you can't make this fit, just need spade terminals on the wiring, yours may have had ring connectors, but i'm not sure if they changed over the years

That's why he suggested to search this site for photos, to save you the time and trouble.
