Title: hooking up tail lights

Since there is only two connections for the taillights, one for the taillights assembly and one for the license plate, I modify the side marker to tie into the license plate plug. Question is will this work?

Yes that will work but I do not like the approach you made. It is much better that you open the black connector and solder your additional wires red & black there.

Those red ring tongue terminals may touch each other if they turn and that will cause a short.

Thanks for the concern and will make sure the terminal ends are secured from touching.
