Title: Fan Belt Size
Post by: Raymond on July 10, 2005, 07:58:09
Anyone have the sizes for all the belts on an A/C equipped early 280SL?

I have a belt that is 17-245 / 13AV 1080.  I believe this is one of two AC Belts.  What size are the power steering and alternator belts?

Isn't it perplexing how oddball items disappear while a rebuild project goes on.  You'd think it would be hard to lose stuff like this in a one-car garage.  Oh well, I guess they are keeping the matching socks from the washer company somewhere.

Hello Ray,
Try a 13 X 1075. If I recall correctly it will take two of those.

I bought the AC compressor belts from 2 local parts store.  One gave me 1015Li and the other one did not have length specified on the belt.  They are the same length as my old belts.  I had a hard time removing the belt off the car.  I had to remove the pulley in order to remove them.  Now I am having a hard time trying to install them.  Am I getting the wrong belt?  It happened to two parts store already.  Most stores don't sell the belt base on the size.  Is 1015Li 6 cm shorter than 1075?
