Good question John..
I’m really looking for some used, but in relatively good condition..
I could buy new but.. they are prohibitively expensive..

I would assume cheap metal with chrome finish.  I can't imagine using polished stainless steel for this application.  But, I did use that nasty word, "assume"!

I bought some chrome ones in Australia, not oem but very very close to original looking - about $50 usd for the set  :) - I took all the measurements of the originals (banged up like yours) - pretty pleased how they look on - point being if you search around I think you can get very close to originals for a fraction of the cost - if cost is an issue like it is for me usually

The originals were steel, then chrome plated.
