Title: well that was interesting drivers door mirror just fell off
Post by: merrill on June 01, 2023, 15:56:44
so,  i was out running some errands in the 230sl,

got on the freeway and out of my peripheral vision i saw my drivers mirror rotate and then just fell off.
what is left is just the arm

luckily i have some backups from junkyard picking, now to decide if i should just replace the whole assy or just the mirror.

just one of those things i guess

If the condition of the mirror post is in similar condition I would just replace the mirror head.  Taking apart the door panel could open a can of worms.

Brad
hi
yes,
looking for the spare mirror assy i had.
so far i can only find arms, the chrome head and mirror.

I might just end up buying a new head from Buds benz if i can get the spring also

so
I couldn't find the backup mirror assy,  its around here somewhere,  of course i "organized" everything so its somewhere.

anyway  Buds has a re-pop kit which i ordered.

comes with all the parts in the picture.

i checked the technical forum for assembly instructions but could not find any

I am guessing the process is as follows
1. screw, small spring, chrome housing and nut get secured first
2. large spring, mirror get held in place while the plastic trim is put in place.

any other guidance would be appreciates
thank you matt
