Title: Dynamat: what kind?
Post by: mdsalemi on May 30, 2023, 14:31:52
Thinking of adding the well known Dynamat product to the interior under carpet areas of my 280SL. I know a number of you have done this. So I went to look at the Dynamat product website and see the following:

Dynamat Xtreme
Dynapad
Dynaliner
Dynacore

(and a few others not necessarily appropriate for our application such as hood liners)

My primary goal is first, reduction of heat inside the cabin area, any noise reduction is only a bonus and secondary.

What have those of you who have used these products used, and was it worth your time/trouble/$$$ and did it achieve your primary and or secondary goals?

Mike
I looked at a product called X mat  (Eastwood) ,
https://www.eastwood.com/xmat-sound-deadening-18x32-ines-34-8-sq-ft.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwvdajBhBEEiwAeMh1U2bl2Ls1fvn4SyxYeVY-7oBsMEDjT6JAmN7tvMzPf_i4wfN-Zht7UhoCKHsQAvD_BwE&wcid=18669317016&wickedid=629947573594&wickedsource=google&wv=4

It is great for sound deadening and heat deflection.
My floor is quiet and my feet never get hot.
Take a look

Steven

I used the same x-mat (low profile) and I like it too.

I used Dynamat Xtreme and have been very pleased.  In addition to covering the floor panels I also had it installed inside the doors. I could tell the difference immediately, and when the doors are shut, they sound much more solid.
