I have fitted the "new" heatercore in the car... ;) but wonder if i must glue some foam on the metal plate where "BEHR" is stamped ( i know the up side is in the wrong location.... i didn't told the welder how.....)
I think i have seen somewhere that foam , may be to avoid some rattling noises ?

yves,
Sorry to side track your thread on the first reply! ;D Why did you mask off those parts and paint in this area? Just curious, as I will be doing this work for sure some day.

There's a pic in the tech manual that shows foam on the deflector plate

Hi,
In my opinion, in order to still achieve good heating performance, it is important that the entire system works optimally, i.e.:
- a clean heat exchanger, inside and out
- a well-insulated heat exchanger so that it does not transfer its heat to the body panel.

Thank's all for your contribution...!
So i'll put some glued foam on this side, that makes sense.
For Rwmestel, i had some superficial rust around the heatercore and the paint is a rust proof one after a solid brush. I replaced also the two water drain hoses which were not so bad but i hope not going there another time....! :-\
