Title: Engine Oil Dipstick
Post by: MikeSimon on April 12, 2023, 19:47:31
There is a LHD 230SL on BaT right now which seems to have an engine from a RHD car. It looks like the oil dipstick is on the left side of the engine?
Did the RHD motors have the dipstick on the opposite side ?

RHD have right hand dipsticks looking from the front.

Never mind! So do LHD cars. I must not have checked engine oil in a long time. Probably got confused with the AT oil dipstick.

... looking from the front.
I think the standard reference point we should all be using is "from the driver's seat".  So, I guess all dipsticks are on the left side, along with the fuel injection pump, regardless if LHD/RHD.  Correct?

Yes. Agree on all accounts. Only difference would be defining the direction of rotation of an accessory. It is almost always called by looking at the front of the unit.
