Congratulations to our Michael Salemi who won "Best of Show" at the Mercedes Club of America's National Event "Gemutlichiet". Michael was showing his beautiful pagoda 280SL at the event in Grosse Pointe Shores Michigan Sunday afternoon.
The competition was very tough! Michael took home the beautiful lead crystal glass trophy for "Best of Show."

Gents,
Thanks for all the kind words.
1) As we all know pictures can be misleading; however if anyone wants to see the winner, I will be driving her down to Joe Alexander's for our Tech Session in July. You can look at in on and underneath to your heart's content.
2) Who was I parked next to? The 250CE that was recently highlighted in the Star magazine, and a Porshe 911SC. Now understand that "our" MBCA Concours this year was held in conjunction with the "Eyes on Design" Concours; three MBCA member's cars were invited to the "Eyes on Design" Concours (a 1931 2-seat Mannheim Coupe; a 1957 300SL Roadster, and my 280SL) and thus these three cars were displayed in the "postwar German" class. The 300SL Roadster won several prizes; the Mannheim as well. The Mannheim was the winner of our MBCA Show category--but was trailered there...I drove mine of course--through the rain to get to the venue.

Nice work, Mike. The Guzzi (my car) has always seen your car as its role model!

Big congrats on your win Mike! Guess the camera snapped a pix of you when you were frustrated with the weight of the trophy.
Makes me humbled and eager to get my diesel finished ASAP!

Mike,
Congrats on your win! A very prestigious show and to take best of show is a huge accomplishment.
Looking forward to seeing you and the car in Backlick in late July.
Best,

Funny you should say that Malc...as the Registrar for this National Event called Gemutlikeit, I had my hands full collecting payments, printing maps, organizing things and assisting with the myriad details on this...further, though, right after school ended for my daughter last Friday, WE went to DISNEYLAND. I didn't have TIME to do ANYTHING to my car--I left it at Motorwerks and had THEM wash and wax it[:0]. Embarassing, but true!
