Title: Question about lower oil pan bolts
Post by: mnahon on March 13, 2023, 01:52:06
Most of the bolts (front and sides) that hold the lower oil pan thread into through holes. I am wondering whether the holes for the rear bolts end in the crankcase. More specifically, should I be using sealant on those bolts to prevent possible leakage along the bolt.

Thanks

The rear screw holes are blind but you should check each one to be sure.

I had minor leaks on my upper pan. I removed the bolts one at a time, cleaned them, put some new liquid gasket on the threads and reinstalled the bolt. I tightened the bolts as close as I could to the correct torque. Leeks stopped.
