I have just been given the choice of two camshafts to replace the damaged on in my car. The earlier 05 cam versus the later de-tuned for emissions 08 cam has to deliver different results, but the HP and torque specs never change in the literature over the build dates for the car with the M130.980 engine.
For me the choice is economic as well because the earlier 05 would cost $200 more. I have heard that the ultimate is the 09 cam but I have heard the improvement is largely above 5,500 RPM.
So is there enough useful improvement to justify the extra $200?
BTW Thank you to Joe Alexander for the cam chart.

You are missing the 02 cam for the "ultimate" version. I can probably add the data. what diameter camshaft support towers do you have? 02 shafts require the larger dia towers.

Don't know how much they are new and how the 04 compares to the 05 and 08. I have this for sale:

Mike,
I left off the data for the camshafts that I cannot reasonably expect to find soon. My source is Joe Alexander's cam chart.
Since i can get the 08 soon I am opting for it.
Brad
Forgot the BBB has the data too. See the attached.

Looks like 04 and 08 are identical except for material. Let me know if you are interested.

I am curious by nature and skeptical when I feel I am missing something. Seems the 01, 02 and 04 camshafts which were later replaced by the 05, 09 and 08 with improved material. How bad were the earlier versions? The specs are identical.

The later cams were plated with something to keep them from rusting. Difference in manufacturing but not design?
