Title: Fuel pump motor
Post by: Lew on January 17, 2023, 00:23:05
I am in the process of rebuilding the fuel pump and decided to take the fuel motor apart.  The motor o rings were leaking. In the process of dismantling the motor the front shaft bushing popped out along with 3 other pieces (see photo).  My question is, is the order of reassembly from left to right in the photo?

Also, the commutator has a lot of wear.  Is it still functional, or do I need to replace?   Thanks for any help......

Hi,
maybe you can change the old ball bearings against self-lubricating bearings as I did it with the blower motor, see https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=30569.msg221711#msg221711. Check the measures, maybe the same!

Hello, there are good write ups and diagrams in the technical manual for both types of pump, just search "fuel pumps" in the tech manual section

With regard to your commutator, i would get this refurbished by a suitable motor rewind company, you don't want to rebuild your pump and then have to take it all apart again in the near future if it fails

There's a member on here called Baron Youngman in the US who either provides this service or can point you in the right direction, see post below, his details are on there

That commutator can be cleaned up I think. I turned mine down on a lathe and posted about rebuilding my pumps on this forum if you’re interested.

You can buy a new one if needed though.
