Title: Sloppy Gertag shifter
Post by: cfm65@me.com on December 25, 2022, 07:24:51
Hi Guys,
My Getrag 265/6 with a Pagoda gear lever, is very sloppy.
Left and right as well as fore and aft. This is surely not common to the Getrag or BMW?

I managed to remove the fore and aft slop by extending the lower part of the lever by about one centimetre, however, for the life of me, I can’t figure out how to minimise the side ways movement of the stick.

Might this be common ware and tare in the transmission?

Any advice and ideas welcomed and much appreciated.

Chris,

I had a Getrag in my old 280sl but i used the original BMW lever with a 5 speed knob on it it was tight.

Thanks Garry,
I had a look and I have a little play on the linkage between the transmission and the lever.
I’ll tighten all the links and hopefully fix the slop.
Much appreciated

Chris

Tks again Garry,
I tightened all the linkage joints and connections and it feels like a new car
Much appreciated.
