Title: Brakes on 3.27 Rear Axle
Post by: Jack the Knife on December 19, 2022, 21:23:45
Gentlemen, I'm about to purchase a 3.27 rear axle for my Pagoda. Of course, this axle came from one of the V8 sedans, and comes with disc brakes.

I'm aware of this thread concerning disc brake upgrades which has some great info from Joe Alexander: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=17995.0

But while I'm in there fussing with the brakes, is there anything special I need to keep in mind when using this rear axle in regards to spacing? Will everything fit? Also, I have heard of people doing Wilwood etc. brake upgrades instead -- is this a done thing? I am extremely green to brake systems, and would appreciate some pointers.

this may already be covered in the link you posted, but I think you’ll also need the brake regulator and the associated brake lines from the donor car, and I believe the handbrake cables on the disk brake rear ended also differ from the 230 (drum) cables.

Yes. The E brake cables are different on sedans as are the 230SL from the 250 or 280SL.
