My shift lever is loose seems like shims are missing onbottom of stick but I dont see them on any prints any Ideas all other bushings seem OK . appreciate any info

I'm not aware of any "shims" in this assembly. I would bet that it is the bushings. Have you done a search to find other threads about shifter bushings? You can read other peoples' description of the worn shifter bushings and see if it matches your issue.

Thank you Tony ,that's exactly what I was looking for couldn't find it anywhere even the manual didnt show it my whole bottom of the shifter was full of with grease and after cleaning it out just didnt look right metal to metal didnt look MB ish I did buy a bushing kit or two but they didnt include those so now Ineed to order them may be a bit tricky but well see Im not a comp person Idid bookmark the site and well go from there and get the shifter problem out of the way and move on to the next which is drive shaft bearing and flexjoint then new seat covers Car got a new top last yr looks great Again thans for the post, ill keep ya posted..Regards Boterinse. Is there a specific type of grease that should be packed around the shifter lever bushing? I don't know what the bushing is made of, didn't know if simple axle grease is OK, or if lithium grease is required, or something graphite based??
