I have a problem reinstalling the original Blaupunkt L-Band/M-Band radio into my 1966 230SL. I removed the original radio 30+ years ago to put in a modern AM/FM/CD radio. That radio died and I wanted Bluetooth connectivity, so I found Gary Tayman in Florida. He took the guts out of the original radio and inserted an Aurora Design board, connecting everything to the radio’s existing switches and tuners. So far so good. However ---
1. The tech I hired to install my radio dropped it. He broke the plastic shaft that fits over the tuner knob.
2. The radio space in the dashboard is larger than my radio. I thought I’d kept all the original parts from the original radio but my available parts don’t seem to fill/cover the dashboard hole.
Any ideas on where I can get a replacement plastic shaft for Blaupunkt Hildesheim C? Or how I might attach a radio that’s 15x4 CMs to a dashboard hole that’s 18x5.5 CMs?
Really appreciate any advice.
Jeff

Not to be a downer, but since you're going to all the trouble - if you care, that radio is from 1975/76

Gary -- Thank you. I bought the car while stationed with the USAF in Germany in late 1977. I always assumed the radio was original, but your data make sense. Jeff

If you took out the Blaupunkt and didn't cut the dash, not sure how the hole is din size. But you also should have had a mounting plate. You can get one at authentic classics.

Factory radios for a 1966 would have been either been a Europa or Grand Prix TR model (Transistorized). They’re the correct size for a 230 opening. I’m not certain about the Blaupunkt line. I think there was a pinstripe model called a Frankfurt that was sometimes used.
If you have the data card for your car you can determine if it was delivered with or without a radio. If delivered, then you’ll be able to determine which Becker. Since Blaupunkts were dealer/owner installed it will be impossible to know for sure.

Another good source, of course, is our technical manual: https://www.sl113.org/wiki/Electrical/Radio
If you scroll down you'll find a "Blaupunkt order form and parts list for 230SL"
