Can anybody give me advice, where I can buy parts for brake booster? I need 1 rubber(second is OK), which is inside of brake booster. I have 230 SL 1964, brake booster is model T 51 –200 and on rubber is number 3 6197-0236 1 S 20074.9. I don’t want to spend around 500 $ for whole parts when only rubber is wrong. Thanks

Vit,
You can check out this very good German supplier. Select the English flag in the top right corner if you prefer this language.

Cees,
Did you find a place in The Netherlands to rebuild my T-51 booster I gave you? Also, if you are coming to Blacklick, can you ship that booster back to Ohio? I will pay for shipping.

Here it comes:
EDS Classic Auto & Motor Parts
tel. +31 36 5234994
www.edsclassic.nl
email: eds.classic@worldonline.nl
I have not sent your brake booster there yet Rodd (and I can send it back to you if you want it back) but am confident they would be able to rebuild it, after having spoken with the owner.

As it's my factory original, I would like to have it back. No need to rebuild it now because it will sit in the garage while my correct replacement continues to function for years. Contact me off line for shipping info.
Thanks,

Hi, Does anyone know if there is a U.S. supplier of the booster parts(seals) for a 280SL?
Thanks, Brian

In the US, check out Power Brake Exchange in San Jose. They do great work, and will rebuild your particular unit for under $200. Check out these threads for more info:

I just had my original booster rebuilt by Power Brake Exchange. I am somewhat disappointed. They used some sort of tool to twist off the front half (it is a bayonet type connection). The tool left shallow dents around the circumference. It is turning out ot be a tough job filling the dents prior to paint. Arrrgghh!

In the US i recently exchanged my brake booster at Rock Auto, http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/racatalog.php. After the refund for my original part I believe my net fee was $100.

That is odd.... mine came back in identical shape as sent. What do the dents look like? Can you post a pic? I'm wondering whether mine was already rebuilt once before, as there were little crimp marks all around when I first removed it from the car...

The dents would not show in a photo. They are shallow dents all around the circumference of the front half. Besides that I have about 20 hours already invested in filling and block sanding. Have you ever blocked a round surface? It is very hard to bring it back to true.

Vince,
Sorry about your frustration. No, I can't say I've ever had to do something like that. Besides, I don't require such perfection for my 230sl driver. I hope you're satisfied with the results once you're finished with it.
Best regards,
