Hi all,
Where to look when the engine does not get below 2000 RPM, even while parked?
Linkage is ok, and "butterfly" is closed ... ;(
Thanks,
Bart

Forgot to mention:
I had my injection pump completely re-done
-
Hi. Assuming it is an automatic -- could it be the Constant Speed Solenoid (CSS)?
-
This symptom coincided with the new injection pump being installed? Any other recent work?
Just thinking about it logically, high rpm requires extra fuel AND air. Where could extra air be supplied from? Barometric compensator, warm up device, brake booster, other? What about extra fuel? Cold start valve, leaky injectors, fuel injection pump richness adjustment, other? You may want to recheck linkage adjustment. Check plugs for rich/lean condition to see if extra air or fuel is bigger problem.

That's what first came to mind when I first read Bart's query. It will be interesting to hear what he finds.

No, it is a manual...;(

Does it have a dashpot that might be sticking?
-
That is a good one ...
Let me check, will get back

Check your ignition timing also. In addition your distributor should retard the ignition at idle. What happens when you choke down the air idle screw on the intake manifold? Otherwise you have a huge air leak somewhere causing your high idle. Check your WRD, brake booster vacuum line, air flap on the venture etc.

Lot's of good pointers for this weekend
Will revert on Sunday to you all
Enjoy!
