Title: Thermostat housing
Post by: Brennie on September 12, 2022, 11:36:03
Hello
Quick question
It’s there a gasket or O ring meant to be between these?
Thank you

Hi Brennie

No actually not. But it is advised to clean all contact surfaces to prevent any leak.

You can add some water pipe seal if need be and it keeps leaking.

Good luck 🤞

Looks good, but I never saw this before. The thermostat itself from eg. Bosch does not include a seal or copper ring, and I have not seen it for the house before now.

However, I guess it cannot harm to add one, and leaks from the house are often seen, if the seats have a small damage or imperfection.

I did take the housing off to tidy it up and it now has a small leak.. ordered the washer.. I’ll see if that solves the problem…
There wasn’t one there when I dismantled it.. we shall see…
Thank you for your interest..

Mine is actually also leaking. Where did you buy the washer?

Great, thanks!

Maybe, when you get it, could you then maybe post the dimensions of the washer? Then we may be able to find it locally. ;)

Cheers,

Christian

The thermostats and housings are different for 230 and 280SL. 230SL uses a seal ring and 280SL only needs a bit of sealer.
