This may be the highest auction price paid for a Pagoda. Not sure if this includes buyers premium which could be another 10%. Beautiful car, color combination and rebuild.

Interesting color combination, and it does not match the data card.
-
That is inclusive of buyer's premium.
Here is one last year that sold for $335k

Check put my high end resto. Back to factory spec in every detail. Small details still need to be done though

Will beat most of restored cars in world...

Another interesting result from same auction. Also associated with Mercedes Classic Centre.

Notice trunk. Spare tire I think s/b be upright in 230 SL
-
Early 230SLs had upright tire. A 1966 230Sl had the tire as shown in the photos.

I always thought the 230’s, 250’s and 280sl’s prices would level up over the longer period just like the 300sl’ have done and thus making the 230sl a better investment for the long haul. That sort of pricing does not surprise me.

At least 6 things wrong under the hood. Maybe more.

I just sold a very original, documented 47K mile, pristine 69 280SL to a great guy and a new Pagoda SL Group member. I'd take my 280SL over that one that sold for $324K any day of the week. Prices are crazy. Not just with W113's. Have you seen Porsche prices lately? My neighbor just bought a re-manufactured 1966 Ford Bronco for $279,000.00. There's a classic Bronco Company that remanufactures Broncos the way that Hemmels remanufactures classic MB's. YIKES!
-
John- can I ask what you got for your very original '69? I have (what I think) is a very original '69 in rough shape. Double the number of miles though.
-
Out of fairness to the buyer, who has joined this great club, I would rather keep it private. I'm sure that you understand. Thanks.

The old Mercedes look much better than their competitors from BMW and Audi.
-
I know of a fully restored, award-winning 280SL (not mine) that recently sold for AU$550K

:o
makes me wonder what mine would be worth (with its semi-official provenance) .... when completed!
