Title: Driving while the speedometer is removed
Post by: wayneesch on August 14, 2022, 16:11:46
My odometer is not working and I will remove speedometer and send the unit out for rebuild.  Will there be any issues driving without the speedometer unit connected while the cable remains connected to the transmission?

shouldn't be.

just make sure the cable isn't interfering with any wires in the dash.   tape it up or zip tie it to something where it that spinning cable won't wreck something.

The two instrument lights will be hanging loose and it you turn the lights on they will be live and could short. You can stick each one in a little plastic bag and leave them loose. In this way the metal bulb holder is insulated from the rest of the dash.

Not sure there could not be a problem. I had a rotating inner cable slicing through the top metal sleeve of the outer.

Plastic bags for the light bulbs is an excellent idea - Thanks Joe
