yesterday I was stuck in trafic for a very long time <1.5h> and it was really hot outside .after a while it started to puf blue smoke when I would give gas .after a few hit of the gas it would clear up , I pulled over and took the valve cover cap off to see it smoke came out of it but no smoke. also sometimes after driving then restart I get a puf of smoke . are those symptoms of bad valve seals?my compressin is at 155 on all except one @ 135 psi . don't really want to remove the head unless I have to . can I see if the guides are ok from the top once I remove the springs?\thnaks'

I don't think checking compression will tell you anything about the valve seals. And you can't tell anything by looking at them as you won't be able to see them through the valve springs and even if you could, the wear isn't visible. Puffs of smoke after idling and especially after a high way run and then a stop light pause are very likely valve seals. If you actually have a bad guide, that is lifting out of the head, you will get a LOT of smoke, like a fog machine. Voice of experience here. The seals can be done without removing the head, by either pressurizing the cyl. to keep the valve from dropping or I've heard that you can use rope or cotton cord to fill the cylinder through the plug hole.....or you can live with it, it's not really harming your engine, just the environment :(
