I need to have the windshield changed because of a stone chip.
My question: what must be removed so that the installer of the glass company can perform the change?
I could read that the entire dashboard must be removed, which sounds rather unlikely to me.
Can anyone give me some advice?
Thanks Alfred

It helps if the dash is out and makes the job a lot easier but it isn't mandatory. My dash remained in place and I had a glass installer do the work. I made sure they had someone that was familiar with using rope to install the glass.

Ditto
Though if you can get the wood out at the corners, that reduces the chances of damage.
Get an MB seal, and if your ally trim is a bit under par for your car, it’s likely worth replacing that ( and the little centre cover) while the seal/screen is out

Can you still buy the alloy surround trim anywhere?

Yes, but expensive. (Niemöller, may be others).

I got a quote from the classic center recently. $380 (us) each side

thanks for all the advices. I will try to remove the wood and then visit the glazier to put a new pane. My AutoGlazier is a pro and has put in some difficult glass for me ( Facel-Vega, De Tomaso etc). I am confident.

It should be fine. I am a complete novice and helped a friend replace his Pagoda windshield succesfully recently. Only the fourth windshield I ever did. If you can re-use the current seal it should be even easier.

I agree with Cess, I roped one in today, with a 5ish year old seal. Fit/installed nicely. I would say, based on personal experience, avoid Euro brand. They fit like a saddle on a sow

Good luck in the shipping…I had two sekurit windshields broken in shipping last year. With supply chain issues, I had to settle for off brand aftermarket
