Title: Pertronix in transistorized ignitions
Post by: George Lollar on May 23, 2022, 00:31:53
I'm in the process of installing 123 into 1970 280SL, and ran into the problem of no coil voltage due to transistor module.  Found in the forum history a recommendation from 2004 to run black Pertronix lead to connection point #7 of transistor module.  Before I burn something up, can anyone comment on viability of this fix?

Thanks,
George Lollar

George

I cannot really help with your question — However, I can clearly say that something is quite confused.

You state Pertronix but then you mention 123 ignition.    These are two different systems and impossible to combine.  You either install a Pertronix into your existing distributor ( remove points and replace with Pertronix)  OR you completely remove your distributor and install a new full assembly 123 ignition distributor.

It’s one or the other, you cannot physically have both.  Once clarified, hopefully someone can help.
