I tried to replace my power steering pump blet today but I accidently borke the tightening bolt. It is about 2"-3" long with a loop on one side and threaded on the other. I did not see anyone sell them new. If anyone has a used one I would like to buy it.
Thanks
Bob

I bet your local hardware store will have one...unless it's been changed, mine is a standard wing nut.

I think Bob is referring to a somewhat more complicated bolt; I have a couple lying around but maybe finding one in the US will be cheaper on postage. Just let me know.

Try a Benz Dealer..
part# 180 466 00 74
It probably broke cuz there are 2 adjusting nuts locked together . You have to loosen one first in order to adjust the other ... if you do not , you will snap the bolt..
... or , go here

Go to English, then to power steering insert ..it is item #14..
"Bolt Clamp"

That website looks great!! A bit pricy after converting euro to dollar.

Easy to fab one by welding a washer on the end of a threaded rod..
Check with a Dealer , I think it is still available from Benz..
If not....
Pay Cees the postage, shouldn't be more than a new one

Does anyone have the part number for this bolt? Local dealer ordered a wrong one. Now they can't ever find the part number.

I just re-checked my parts book and my earlier post part # should be correct...

Hello,
Recently bought a 280sl and decided to go after the power steering pump leak. Several issues came up. Sorry for the long post. I got the car relatively inexpensively (<$20K) and think I have to rerepair some areas. Please advise if possible.
I went under the car to check the pump, I found this bolt loose in the bracket below the pump. It had a loop on one side and two bolts on the other. It wasn't really attached in any useful way. It stayed in place b/c the loop came out of the bottom of the pump bracket and the bolts went through a hole in its bottom side
Correct me if I am wrong -- Looking at the Haynes manual, it looks as though the loop is supposed to be attached to the pump. After loosening the pump to bracket bolts, I am supposed to use this bolt to push the pump to loosen the belt?
Yipes! If this is supposed to loosen the belt, and it is gone, then do I use the same method of tightening the belt as I do with my American cars? (tighten with bar and then tighten bolts).
Also, how many bolts hold the pump in place. I count three. Is this right?
I have some photos, but they are too big. I'm going to buy some software tomorrow to resize them for posting.
Thanks for the fun.
