Title: Attaching Curved Aluminum Strip at top of Door Card
Post by: Leester on May 13, 2022, 01:08:15
In the attached diagram from SLS #54 (collar) is the curved piece at the top of the door card which is attached to the door card with rivets. Question: When attached, is the collar between the door card and the door? Or is the door card between the collar and the door. I just need to know which side of the door card the collar attaches to.  Thanks in advance.  Lee

A photo is better than words.  ;)
Don't forget to bevel the edges of your new card.

Perfect, so I bevel the top edge of the door car to recess the "collar" into the door card?  I would not have thought to do that so thank you.

While you could do that it is really not necessary. The ridge between the card and the metal disappears once you add the fabric and the thin foam layer. It depends a lot on how the leather/MBtex was stitched together by your supplier.

What I meant was to bevel the edges so they slide easier into the the chrome channel trim on the bottom and the sides. The leather/MBtex front and back add to the thickness of the panel and will give you trouble inserting it.

OK, got it. Thank you.  Yes, will shave off a little so it all fits in the channels that hold it in place. Thanks again.  Lee
