So today I thought I would try to get my ignition centered. I removed the bolts to drop the steering column but I can't seem to move it. Is there another bolt somewhere? I mean, i can move it a bit but is not enough. Also, the steering column seems the be in the right place on the dash, so is it possible the ignition barrel is what needs to be adjusted? And anyone have a trick to getting the bracket nut off the back of the speedometer?

It’s been years since I removed my instruments but I think I laid on my back and reached up by hand to remove the nut on the speedometer.
I have no idea why your key barrel won’t line up. I thought it’d be in a fixed position. It’s always been misaligned?

I suggest to take out the left chromed aircover and airduct.
Via the hole you then you can loosen the nuts one by one of all instruments.

Not sure you can see it in the pictures but I have the left chrome air duct out and I was able to remove the bracket nuts from the tach and center unit, just not the speedo.
Yes, it's always been off center since got it

The ignition unit is clamped with a screw to the steering column. Once you get the center out, you should be able to see and access the screw without removing the speedo.

Thanks Dirk, you got me further along. Still wouldn't move much so I resigned myself to trying to get the speedometer out. Taking turns with my husband, we finally got that nut loose. The tips of our fingers are still numb. Turns out there is a bracket on the other side of the ignition. It wasn't really seated in there at all. With much twisting and prying, we got it centered but a bit angled on the right. It's supposed to be straight, right?

Centering looks good to me. It’s hard to tell from the picture but it seems it could come out a bit more?

Wow Lori great job looks a whole lot better than it was!
Now give your fingers a rest! 😉
