Title: Throttle linkage fitting
Post by: Anosh on March 30, 2022, 12:47:03
Hi.
I have a RHD 230SL. The top throttle linkage presently fixed on the car is not original. I have bought the original throttle linkage (pic 1 below) from Colin Ferns, but if we try to fix it, the bracket of brake booster which is fixed on the firewall comes in the way. With the booster bracket removed the linkage fits properly. Not sure if my booster bracket is correct. Have tried all permutations.

Pictures 2 & 3 show my present linkage (not the correct part for the W113) which goes above the booster bracket.

Would highly appreciate if someone with a RHD 230SL can send me some pictures showing how the correct throttle linkage fits behind/under /through the brake booster bracket.

Do not know much about LHD/RHD differences there, but there is a search function on the forum and if you punch in e.g. "RHD booster", you will get some hits:

And here you have the picture of the RHD engine bay where you see the booster bracket: https://mbworld.org/forums/general-discussion-mercedes-benz-classics/758850-w113-280-sl-m130-engine-bay-shots-original-requested.html

Hi.
I have a RHD 230SL. ....
Pictures 2 & 3 show my present linkage (not the correct part for the W113) which goes above the booster bracket.
....
You have a non-original booster in your car which may use a different bracket.
The original 230SL booster should be a ATE T51(identifiable by a notch to accommodate  the master cylinder).
Take a look a the photos provided in reply #3 by Hans in Sweden: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=28312.0;all
and the photo explaining the "notch" posted by Ja17 in reply #28.

Hi Guys,
I need some advice on fitting welded headers to my 250SL, please.
I have a LHD 250 SL auto, now with a 265/6 Getrag. For some unknown reason the aft exhaust manifold has cracked.
I managed to find a set of welded 230SL headers, which I would like to fit. However, I believe the throttle linkage setup might be a problem.
Could someone with knowledge and experience of this endeavour, please give me a heads-up of the parts required and problems I could expect.
Much appreciated.

Probably would have been best to start a new thread on this manifold issue instead of appending to this year-old brake booster thread.

I can confirm there are differences in a couple linkage parts when switching to the old style tubular header pipes.
