hello all, Memmo is making a new Motor Nr./Engine No. plate for my 230SL/M127 and I can't find any posts regarding the "rivets" that attach the plate. Does anyone know, or have recommendations on where to get these rivets? thanks in advance, charles
-
I found the MB part number for the rivet at: https://www.sl113.org/forums/index.php?topic=9900.msg65257#msg65257. Unfortunately, appears "001476-003007" is no longer available. Any suggestions on how to best mount the plate so it looks reasonably correct?

Seems to me it is something like this: https://allegro.pl/oferta/nitokolki-niklowane-3-5x6-35-leb-kulisty-nit-8szt-9201596185?snapshot=MjAyMi0wMS0xOFQyMDo1NDowOS42MDFaO2J1eWVyOzRhNTM0ZDc5NmIwNmQwNTI3MzY0NGU4ZDA3ZmY1NDc0NGRiMDAyNjJkMGUyNGI2M2U5NzY0YTM3MmYyYjFmZDQ%3D
I do not remember the diameter - 3mm? 4mm?
Internet or local hardware store. The issue is you probably will be offered 1000pcs for a couple of dollars and you will be looking for a fellow Member to take some from you.

thanks Pawel, looks like Pelican Parts has them and if anyone else ever wants a couple, here's the link: https://www.pelicanparts.com/More_Info/001476003007.htm?pn=001-476-00-30-07-MBZ&fc=Y. These 'Round Head Pins' also have a NSN: 5315-01-238-8949.

Authentic Classics have them.

My 1966 230SL, which I have had since new, has screws. No rivets. I do not think they were ever replaced but I guess they could have been although I can think of no reason for it to have ever been removed.

hello mbPaul, that's odd. Your Engine Number plate is secured to the side of the block with screws? I assume it's the original M127.981 engine? thanks, Charles

I screwed up. I was talking about some other plate. The engine plate is with rivets.

..The engine plate is with rivets..
ok, thanks Paul.
-
They're called hammer rivets. Plenty of sources on line.

Mehmet finished my Engine Number plate and will post it tomorrow. I ordered a couple of "hammer rivets" (thanks Stick) from Pelican Parts in CA.
