I have this posted on another thread of mine but thought might get more help in this section.
My car was delivered with TROPICAL BATTERRY option and I am looking for what one would of looked like compared to the original Varta back in the days. Would it of been VARTA brand still ? Pictured most helpful. Car was first delivered too Wisconson Milwaukee on European delivery program.
Thanks

Aside from battery suppliers in Barbados, Bangalore, Jamaica and Jakarta, I can’t seem to find out what distinguishes a tropical battery from a standard one. Perhaps one that self-fills the cells? Is that a thing? Sealed batteries were probably not around 50 years ago.
More humorously, the thought of a car destined for Milwaukee (in the frozen tundra of the upper Great Lakes) needing a “tropical” battery is a bit funny. If anything I’d think it would have needed one with a higher CCA rating than standard.

Check out the other thread. I posted an answer there. Frankly, I don't really care for these double threads on the same subject. It dilutes the forum.

I have to agree Michael I cannot find anything also which disginushes one from the other. As per data card it being on there yes does seem wrong climate for it but it's on there so just digging around too see what I can find out.
Thanks

It's the members obligation to make a posting once in the correct forum topic, and the moderator's responsibility for moving or consolidating duplicate threads. I didn't see anything but this single topic of Tropical Battery...but then again I wasn't looking.
Now I went back to see it in general discussion, about Data Card, not Tropical Battery. From a topic headline two different things. I never looked at this since some members near manic obsession with data card interpretation is beyond my comprehension. It's a bit like my daughter's obsession with SnapChat and TikTok. ;) Something I just don't get.
